Kochi Corpn. seeks govt. fundsto repair uneven stretches along metro corridor

Close on the heels of the Kerala High Court directing the agencies concerned to take immediate steps to identify, level, and permanently rectify all road surface protrusions and uneven portions around metro pillars in the city, the Kochi Corporation, which owns and maintains the severely affected Sahodaran Ayyappan (S.A.) Road Road, is awaiting funds from the State government to restore the arterial corridor.

Similar issues persist in many areas beneath the metro corridor, on the Edappally-M.G. Road stretch owned by the Public Works department (PWD), where restoration work has been carried out in a few places, and on the Vyttila–Thripunithura stretch.

Mayor V.K. Minimol said the cash-strapped Corporation is not in a position to mobilise the approximately ₹14 crore needed to resurface and restore the four-lane road. “It is tough even to raise half the amount. In this situation, we will approach the new government to source the funds,” she said.
