‘Life term or death’: NCB warns Indians travelling to Maldives after it toughens drug laws

The Narcotics Control Bureau has issued a strong advisory to Indian citizens travelling to or visiting the Maldives. The advisory cautions them about the country's strengthened anti-narcotics laws that impose life imprisonment and the death penalty for drug-related offences. The laws now prescribe harsher penalties, including the death penalty for large-scale trafficking, subject to confirmation by a competent Maldivian court.
