Mississippi residents sue Musk’s xAI and SpaceX over data centre ‘nuisance’

Residents in Mississippi have filed a lawsuit against xAI and SpaceX, claiming the companies' power plant fuelling nearby data centres is causing excessive and offensive noise that has eroded their health and home values. The lawsuit alleges negligence and creation of a public nuisance, seeking damages for emotional distress, reduced property values and other harms. The plaintiffs are also seeking disgorgement of profits from the power plant. A civil rights group, NAACP, has previously sued xAI over the plant and centres, accusing the company of violating US environmental rules.
