New Zealand court denies bid by mosque mass shooter to appeal conviction

Brenton Tarrant's appeal to overturn his conviction and sentence for the 2019 New Zealand mosque shootings has been denied by the Court of Appeal. The court ruled that Tarrant's attempt to overturn his guilty plea was "utterly devoid of merit" and found that his guilty pleas were voluntary, not coerced or pressured. Tarrant is serving life in prison without parole for killing 51 people at two mosques in Christchurch.
