Panel probing Manipur violence gets 6-month extension to submit report

A Commission of Inquiry probing Manipur violence has been given a six-month extension to submit its report. The commission, now headed by former Supreme Court judge Balbir Singh Chauhan, was formed in June 2023 to investigate the ethnic violence that broke out in Manipur in May 2023. The panel is probing the sequence of events and facts relating to the violence, which claimed more than 260 lives, and assessing administrative measures taken to prevent and deal with the violence
