Rabbi accused of war crimes selected for Israel’s national celebration

Avraham Zarbiv, a rabbi and state rabbinical judge, has been selected to light one of the 12 torches marking Israel's Independence Day. He is an army reservist but the military has distanced itself from him, stating he was not selected in coordination with them. Zarbiv has been involved in controversies, including throwing grenades at Palestinians and demolishing homes, and has shared footage of his actions, often paired with traditional religious mannerisms.
