Red card for players covering their mouths in World Cup matches

Footballers covering their mouths in confrontational situations may be given a red card under new rules approved by the International Football Association Board. The rules also permit officials to issue red cards to players who leave the field in protest of a referee's decision or to team officials who convince their players to do so. These changes are not mandatory but give competition organisers the option to use them.
