Replica WW2 spy boat honours espionage group

A replica of a boat used by spies from the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War Two has been built by a team of enthusiasts. The 8m boat was designed to get through surf on the beaches of Brittany in northern France and was used to secretly land supplies and rescue downed airmen. The boat was painted grey to avoid detection and was double-ended for easy rowing. The replica will be part of a new display at the National Maritime Museum remembering Cornwall's links to the SOE.
