Respect Is Not Enough. Japan's Leadership Deficit Made Visible

Japan's leadership model, which emphasized consensus and inconspicuous authority, has failed to reproduce itself. This model, which built the country's economic miracle, is no longer working and is not inspiring employees. Only 15% of Japanese employees feel inspired by their leaders, with 46% citing hope as the single most important leadership quality. The current generation of senior executives is struggling to develop the next generation of leaders for an environment they do not know how to lead in, exacerbating the succession crisis.
