SC questions basis of PILs in Sabarimala case

The Supreme Court of India has expressed concerns over the misuse of Public Interest Litigations (PILs). The court has remarked that PILs have become "Private Interest Litigation", "Publicity Interest Litigation", "Paisa Interest Litigation" and "Political Interest Litigation". The court is hearing a case regarding discrimination against women at religious sites, including the Sabarimala temple in Kerala. The court questioned the objective of a PIL challenging the prohibition of women from entering the temple, stating that it should have been dismissed outright.
