Shakira wins £50m tax refund from Spanish government

A Spanish court has ordered the country's tax authority to refund 55 million euros to singer Shakira after ruling that the money was improperly collected in a dispute over her taxes. The court found that tax authorities failed to prove Shakira spent the minimum required 183 days in Spain in 2011, and therefore, she was not a resident for tax purposes. The repayment includes income tax and fines, but the tax agency plans to appeal to the Supreme Court.
