The makers of Heer Sara Aur Pondicherry initially scheduled the film's release for May 29, but announced a two-week delay to June 12 due to Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) objections. The CBFC Examining Committee found certain scenes and themes unacceptable, leading to the delay and a change in title from Heer Sara Aur Pondicherry to Heer Sara. The film was also given an 'A' certificate after modifications were made, including the deletion of a derogatory word.
