Tamil Nadu election 2026: Mailam constituency residents demand higher education institutions, better civic amenities

The Mailam Assembly Constituency in Villupuram district is witnessing a tough fight between AIADMK's C.Ve. Shanmugam and DMDK's L. Venkatesan, who is part of the DMK-led alliance. Shanmugam has shifted from Villupuram, while Venkatesan, a former MLA of Tirukkoyilur, has shifted to Mailam. The DMK has allotted the Tirukkoyilur seat to Goutham Sigamani, son of former Minister K. Ponmudy.
