Tamil Nadu elections: Vijay’s fan army turns into winning machine

K V Vijay Damu, a 46-year-old fan club leader, won an MLA seat for TVK in Chennai's Royapuram assembly constituency. He was previously the North Chennai district secretary of the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, a fan club of actor Vijay. Damu's family loves Vijay, who is popularly known as "Thalapathy". As secretary of the fan club, Damu was tasked with converting it into a people's movement by highlighting the lapses of the ruling DMK and opposition AIADMK.
