Tamil Nadu government formation news LIVE: TVK Vijay unlikely to take oath today; ‘not enough numbers’, says Governor

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar is not convinced about Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) having enough numbers to form the government. TVK won 108 seats in the 234-member assembly but is ten short of the majority mark. The Governor is seeking legal opinion and has not yet made a formal decision on inviting TVK leader Vijay to form the government and hold a swearing-in ceremony. Congress has extended its support to TVK, but with a condition of keeping out "communal forces" that do not believe in the Constitution of India.
