Thailand limits outdoor drinking, reveals plan to tighten visa rules

Thailand's government is introducing tighter rules for entry and mandatory insurance following reports of unruly tourist behaviour. The updated rules will restrict drinking in public places, including roadsides, trains, and stations. A country-by-country approach will be taken to determine visa-free entry, with the average length of stay by tourists being nine days. A proposed tourism tax of 300 baht per arrival remains part of the government's plans, and travel and health insurance may become a prerequisite for visitors.
