'They destroyed the future': Palestinian anger at rise in Israeli demolitions in East Jerusalem

Properties in the al-Bustan area of the Silwan neighbourhood in East Jerusalem are being demolished by Israeli authorities. A total of 59 properties have been destroyed since late 2023. The demolitions have pushed Palestinians from their homes, with many left without a future. The Jerusalem Municipality aims to build a biblically-themed park, the King's Garden, in the area, citing a severe shortage of open public spaces. Settlements and the forced transfer of a population from occupied land are illegal under international law.
