VACB launches ‘Operation Earth Guard’ to curb illegal soil mining in Kerala

Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau launches a statewide surprise inspection drive titled "Operation Earth Guard" to curb illegal soil mining in Kerala. The operation is being conducted at 72 offices and multiple locations across the state, including district Mining and Geology offices and local self-government institutions. Officials are suspected of issuing permits and transit passes in exchange for bribes, and middlemen and organised groups are facilitating and controlling illegal mining and transportation activities.
