Verdict day for high stakes elections: Counting from 8am for four states, one UT

Counting for assembly polls in four states and a Union territory begins at 8am. Votes across 823 seats will be counted to determine the winners of elections marked by record turnouts and mass deletions of names from voter rolls. Three states - West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala - have never seen a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, representing the final frontier for the party. Counting will be done in real time on ECINET and the official election portal.
