We remain engaged on this development: MEA on reports Nepal may impose customs duty on goods

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) remains engaged with Nepal on reports of customs duty imposition on goods carried by people travelling from India to Nepal. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Nepal has taken this step to curb informal trade and smuggling, and civilians carrying personal goods or household items will not be obstructed. Discussions are ongoing with the government of Nepal on this issue.
