WHO declares Ebola outbreak in DR Congo and Uganda a global health emergency

The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda a public health emergency of international concern. Hundreds of suspected cases and dozens of deaths have been reported, prompting urgent cross-border coordination and surveillance efforts in Central Africa. The outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo virus and has been reported mainly in Mongwalu and Rwampara, with suspected cases also reported in Bunia.
