Younger TVK candidates led Vijay’s political coup

Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has broken the Dravidian duopoly in Tamil Nadu's politics by winning 108 MLAs in the state assembly. TVK's leader, Vijay, is in his early fifties, closer to the state's median age of 36.35 years. The party's median candidate age is 44 years, significantly lower than the DMK's 57 years. This demographic advantage, along with Vijay's perceived youthful image, may have contributed to TVK's success in the election.
