BJK Cup: India win the battle, lose the war and fail to make playoffs

The Indian team played in the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group 1 tie in New Delhi. A 33-year-old player, who had last played in national colours two years ago, was brought back into the team for a must-win position. The team needed to beat Korea 3-0 and had Indonesia beat Thailand to qualify for the playoffs, but India finished third after beating Korea 2-1 and Thailand edging Indonesia.
