Puducherry Assembly election 2026: High enthusiasm, long queues mark polling as the Union Territory shatters record

Puducherry registered a record 89.74% polling in the 2026 Assembly election, breaking all previous polling percentages. Almost half of the constituencies crossed the 90% polling mark by 8 p.m. Voters showed enthusiasm from dawn, thronging polling stations much before the voting process started around 7 a.m. A steady flow of electors to polling stations contributed to the record-breaking turnout.
