Anthropic created a test marketplace for agent-on-agent commerce

Anthropic conducted a pilot experiment called Project Deal, where AI agents represented buyers and sellers in a classified marketplace. The experiment involved 69 Anthropic employees with a budget of $100 to buy goods from their coworkers. A total of 186 deals were made, totaling over $4,000 in value. The company found that more advanced models resulted in better outcomes, but users did not notice the disparity.
