Assembly polls: West Bengal turnout hits 93.2%, Tamil Nadu settles at 85.1%

Bengal recorded a historic 93.2% turnout in the first phase of assembly elections, with Cooch Behar leading at 96.2% and South Dinajpur at 95.4%. Malda, Jalpaiguri, Birbhum, and North Dinajpur also crossed 94%. In contrast, Kalimpong and Darjeeling had lower turnouts of 83% and 88.9% respectively. Tamil Nadu's final provisional figure settled at 85.1%, with Karur district topping at 92.6%.
