'Can't compel him for statement': Calcutta HC grants protection to Abhishek Banerjee in forged signature case

The Calcutta High Court has granted protection to Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee in a case linked to alleged forgery of signatures of newly-elected TMC MLAs. The court has ruled that Banerjee cannot be forced to make a statement against himself and has asked him to appear before the CID, noting that he is ready to cooperate. The court has also directed the CID to conduct search and seizure and question Banerjee.
