Census’ foot soldiers: Teachers step out as houselisting begins in Delhi

Government school teachers are fanning out across Delhi to conduct the 2026 Census, marking the start of the country's most extensive administrative exercise. With identity cards, phones, and forms in hand, they are knocking on doors to collect data on housing conditions, amenities, and household assets. The houselisting phase, which began this month, involves a 33-question schedule and is expected to continue till September 30.
