China's Chery seeks to be 'Toyota plus Tesla' as it targets global expansion

Chery, China's largest car exporter, is pursuing global expansion in Europe and beyond. The company is considering adding production capacity in Barcelona, Spain, and looking for opportunities to share production facilities with European car companies. Chery's strategy, dubbed 'double T', aims to produce cars with quality and advanced technology, similar to Toyota and Tesla. Established in 1997, Chery is building its Ebro brand of cars in Spain with a local joint venture.
