Taiwan leader visits Eswatini despite China’s attempts to block trip

Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te visited Eswatini, a country that still recognises Taiwan, despite China's efforts to block the trip. He was greeted with a military-style welcoming ceremony and met with King Mswati III, signing trade agreements. The trip was originally scheduled for late April but was delayed due to cancellations of flight permits by Seychelles, Mauritius, and Madagascar, reportedly under pressure from Beijing. Lai reiterated that no country has the right to prevent Taiwan from engaging with the world.
