Eight runners hospitalised after collapsing during South Korea marathon

Heat-related illnesses caused 12 runners to fall during a marathon near South Korea's Demilitarized Zone. Temperatures approached 30C for the race, which is unusual for the typically mild spring weather in the region. Eight runners were taken to hospital, including one who needed intensive care, after suffering symptoms such as convulsions, dizziness, and hyperventilation. Authorities warned people to look out for signs of heatstroke and stop exercising immediately if they occur.
