France's 'roadmap' to exit fossil fuels by 2050

France's electricity comes from nuclear plants, while solar, wind and hydropower account for a quarter. The country aims to reduce fossil fuel consumption to 40 percent by 2030 and 30 percent by 2035, with a goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050. France plans to close its last coal-fired power plants by 2027 and transition away from oil by 2045 through large-scale electrification of transport.
