HC seeks NIA reply on Umesh Kolhe murder accused’s plea to drop charges

The Bombay high court has sought the National Investigation Agency's response to an appeal filed by Irfan Khan, a key accused in the murder of Amravati pharmacist Umesh Kolhe. Khan is challenging a trial court order refusing to drop charges against him. The murder occurred on June 21, 2022, when Kolhe was attacked and hacked to death while returning home on his scooter. The National Investigation Agency claims Khan instigated and supported the assailants, and is accused of being the mastermind behind the conspiracy.
