Kerala’s agriculture sector reels under severe rain deficit

Kerala is experiencing extreme climate distress due to a relentless summer and a significant rainfall deficit. The State recorded an overall rainfall deficit of 38% between March 1 and April 21, with districts such as Palakkad, Malappuram, Kollam, and Idukki being severely affected. Farmers are struggling to sustain their livelihoods as the missing rains have turned a difficult season into a crisis.
