Marathi issue: Maharashtra puts on hold action against auto, cab drivers

The Maharashtra government plans to make Marathi language compulsory for autorickshaw and taxi drivers. To achieve this, the government will conduct a survey across 59 RTOs to determine the number of Marathi-speaking and non-Marathi-speaking drivers. Non-Marathi-speaking drivers will be guided to training centres for tuition and practical proficiency. The government will enforce the law after giving them a reasonable chance.
