Marathi signboards within a month or 'Shiv Sena-style' action: Mumbai deputy mayor to shops, hotels

Mumbai deputy mayor warned shops and establishments, including five-star hotels and celebrity-owned outlets, to display prominently visible Marathi signboards within a month. Failure to comply will result in a "Shiv Sena-style" response. The civic body has taken penal action against 3,114 establishments and recovered fines amounting to ₹1.91 crore. Marathi signboards in Devanagari script are mandatory as per Supreme Court directives. Inspections will be carried out to check compliance and officials ignoring enforcement action will also face action.
