Nigeria evacuates citizens from South Africa as anti-migrant sentiment rises

Many African migrants are living in fear in South Africa due to rising anti-migrant sentiments. Nigeria has repatriated some of its citizens from South Africa, following evacuations by Ghana, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. The repatriations come ahead of a deadline set by some campaigners for undocumented migrants to leave. Migrants from other African countries moved to South Africa after the end of white-minority rule in 1994, but now face xenophobic attacks and unemployment.
