Russian fighters confirm withdrawal from northern Mali city after separatist attacks

Russian forces have confirmed they have pulled out of the northern city of Kidal in Mali, leaving along with Malian troops. The separatist Azawad Liberation Front group claims control of Kidal, declaring it "now free". The group had agreed to a permanent withdrawal of Russian troops, which was reportedly focused on ensuring their secure withdrawal from the fighting. Operations by the Russian Africa Corps will continue elsewhere in the country.
