SC asks Centre to consider amending law on terminating pregnancy of rape survivors

The Supreme Court has urged the Centre to consider amending the law to permit rape survivors to terminate unwanted pregnancies beyond 20 weeks. The court stressed that when there is pregnancy due to rape, there should not be a time limit, and the decision should be of the person concerned. It also asked AIIMS to counsel the survivor's parents over the issue, considering the long-term health implications for the minor mother.
