Suspense in Tamil Nadu as Vijay’s majority math yet to add up

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar is seeking legal opinion to ensure Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has a majority in the assembly. TVK, led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, has the support of Congress's five lawmakers but no explicit backing from other parties. Vijay's outfit shattered a 50-year-old Dravidian duopoly to emerge as the single-largest party in assembly elections, winning 108 seats short of a simple majority. A formal decision on inviting Vijay to form the government has not yet been made.
