Tamil Nadu election 2026: Industrial pollution remains unsolved in Ranipet constituency

A defunct chromium factory in the SIPCOT complex near Ranipet town remains a key point of discussion among voters. Established in 1975, the factory was part of the Tamil Nadu Chromate and Chemicals Limited (TCCL) and aimed to provide raw material requirements for leather tannery units in the area. The factory also provided jobs for local youth before its closure.
