Trinamool Congress Kerala unit severs ties with national leadership, to float new party by May 15

A State committee meeting of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Kochi passed a resolution to sever ties with the party's national leadership. The meeting resolved to reposition itself as a secular, democratic, and socialist political outfit aligned with the Congress and the United Democratic Front (UDF). All links with the TMC have been severed with immediate effect, and a new party will be formed.
