During Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay's swearing-in ceremony, 'Vande Mataram' was played first, followed by the National Anthem, while 'Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu' came third. This altered sequence from the traditional protocol, where 'Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu' is played first, triggered criticism from opposition voices and allies of the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. CPI leader M Veerapandian objected to the change, alleging it violated established state protocol and questioned the role of Raj Bhavan in the matter.
