Three die after virus outbreak on Atlantic cruise ship

A suspected virus outbreak has occurred on the MV Hondius cruise ship, which was sailing from Argentina to Cape Verde. Three people have died, with one case of Hantavirus confirmed and five more suspected cases under investigation. Hantavirus infections are usually linked to environmental exposure, but can also spread between people, leading to severe respiratory illness. The World Health Organization is helping to co-ordinate the medical evacuation of symptomatic passengers and conducting a full public health risk assessment.
