Two hantavirus cases confirmed, five more suspected on stranded cruise ship

A suspected hantavirus outbreak has occurred on a cruise ship in the Atlantic near Cape Verde. Three people have died, one is critically ill, and three have mild symptoms. The World Health Organization says the risk to the wider public is low as hantavirus rarely passes between humans. Contact tracing has been initiated for passengers on a flight taken by one of the deceased. The ship is being held off the coast of West Africa, and evacuations are planned for symptomatic passengers.
