Why are Western feminists silent on the war on Iranian women?

Feminist institutions have selectively shown solidarity with protests in Iran, celebrating women's resistance to compulsory hijab in 2022-2023. However, when war kills women and girls, destroying their access to education, the same infrastructure has fallen silent. This contrast exposes a deeper logic of selective solidarity, where certain forms of gendered violence are recognised while others are allowed to disappear. War has never been gender neutral, with women and children being primary targets.
