2 Indian nationals safe after hantavirus outbreak on Dutch vessel

Two Indian crew members aboard the Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius, which reported a hantavirus outbreak, were evacuated to the Netherlands. Both are healthy and asymptomatic, the Indian Embassy in Spain confirmed. The ship, operated by Oceanwide Expeditions, anchored in the Canary Islands after the virus outbreak was reported, and passengers disembarked in accordance with WHO and Spanish authorities' protocol. Hantaviruses are mainly transmitted to humans through contact with infected rodents or their excreta.
