After SC rap, UP to pay ₹5 lakh damages to juvenile lodged with adult prisoners

The Uttar Pradesh government will pay ₹5 lakh compensation to a man who was wrongly housed with adult inmates in a regular jail despite being a juvenile at the time of the offence. The Supreme Court has ruled that housing a juvenile with adult inmates is impermissible under law and has taken on record a standard operating procedure to prevent such violations
