‘Charhdi Kala’: When Raghu Rai used his lens to help home state Punjab in floods

Internationally acclaimed Indian master photographer Raghu Rai died at the age of 83. Born in undivided Punjab, he was a construction engineer by training before becoming an iconic photographer documenting India's complex social and political life. Rai showed affection and solidarity with Punjab during the devastating floods in 2025, supporting a relief initiative to assist victims and highlighting the severe impact on livelihoods and affected communities.
