Domestic capital drives India's real estate boom

India's real estate sector drew institutional capital of $5.1 billion in the March quarter, a 72% on-year surge. Domestic investors accounted for about 96% of total inflows, with developers leading capital deployment at 42% and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) at around 40%. REIT investments crossed $2 billion during the quarter, driven by domestic investors' confidence in the Indian real estate growth story.
